Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses®
The Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses® located in Bakersfield, Loma Linda, Los Angeles, Orange County and Pasadena serve as "homes-away-from-home” for families of children undergoing treatment for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses at nearby hospitals and medical facilities.
The Ronald McDonald Houses provide inexpensive, and often free, lodging for families who travel long distances while their children undergo treatment. No family is ever turned away due to inability to pay. The five Southland Ronald McDonald Houses have accommodated more than 36,000 families to date.
The availability of the Ronald McDonald Houses alleviates the stress families would have to endure by sleeping on cots at the hospital or incurring the additional expense of finding a local hotel. Additionally, the facilities provide families with the added comfort of being surrounded by those who understand and can relate to the ordeal of having an ill child. |
